Home Energy Surveys & Heat Loss Assessments Leicestershire

Find out exactly where your home loses heat and what to fix first. Kai Casswell brings an engineer's approach to every survey: a Materials Science degree from Imperial College London, low-temperature heating design training, and first-hand experience building his own near-Passivhaus home. Whether you want lower bills, a more comfortable home or are planning a heat pump, you get clear, practical advice based on measurements rather than guesswork.

Room-by-Room Heat Loss Survey

A room-by-room heat loss calculation using measured dimensions, wall, floor, roof and window construction, and ventilation. It shows the real heat demand of your home, which rooms lose the most heat, and what size heat pump or boiler you actually need. It is the starting point for any properly designed heat pump installation and for checking which radiators need upgrading.

Air Tightness (Blower Door) Testing

A blower door test gently pressurises your home to measure exactly how much air leaks out, and smoke testing shows where it escapes, around windows, floors, loft hatches and service pipes. Draughts are often the cheapest heat loss to fix, and a measured air tightness figure makes the heat loss calculation and any heat pump design more accurate.

Energy-Saving Recommendations

A clear, prioritised report: what to do first, rough costs and the likely savings. It covers insulation, draught-proofing, ventilation and heat recovery, heating controls, radiator and system upgrades, solar hot water and solar PV. Practical advice from an engineer who has done it on his own home, including when a heat pump is not yet the right next step.

Heat Pump Readiness Check

Thinking about a heat pump? We will tell you honestly whether your home is ready, what size you need, which radiators or underfloor circuits to upgrade, and whether to fix insulation or draughts first. We also explain the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant: £7,500, or £9,000 for homes replacing oil or LPG until 31 March 2027.
