Plumb Solar was founded in 2007 by Kai Casswell, initially as a small renewable energy installer with a specialist focus on solar thermal. Over eighteen years on, that focus remains — and it's what sets us apart from generalist plumbers and heating engineers.

Kai holds an Engineering degree in Materials Science from Imperial College London, and brings an engineer's approach to every job: methodical, evidence-based, and thorough. It's a background that makes a real difference in complex fault diagnosis — solar thermal systems in particular reward systematic thinking, which is why customers often come to Plumb Solar after other engineers have drawn a blank.

Plumb Solar was among the first companies in the UK to achieve MCS Accreditation when the scheme launched in 2007. Kai holds professional qualifications across a range of complementary disciplines:

• Air Source Heat Pumps (BPEC)

• G3 Unvented Hot Water Cylinders

• WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme)

• Low Temperature Heating Design

Alongside solar thermal, we carry out plumbing and heating, underfloor heating, and the installation and repair of vented and unvented hot water cylinders — so we can handle the whole system, not just the solar side.

Outside of work, Kai is an enthusiastic paraglider, kitesurfer and snowboarder. The family's competitive spirit extends to the slopes too: his daughter Amy is the current British Champion in Freestyle Snowboarding — Slopestyle and Big Air.
